Abstract

A research consortium including the Suzuki/Tsuchiya Laboratory of the Department Aeronautics and Astronautics, School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo has successfully completed an indoor flight experiment. The group has jointly developed a small unmanned aerial vehicle with Ricoh Co., Ltd., a global technology company (Ricoh), and Blue Innovation Co., Ltd., a drone integrator (Blue Innovation). The consortium has jointly developed a small unmanned aerial vehicle system that utilizes a super-wide stereo camera and inertial sensors, ensuring stabilized flight even without access to GPS. The group will exhibit a demonstration flight of the jointly developed system at Japan Drone 2016 (General Incorporated Association Japan UAS Industrial Development Association) to be held at Makuhari Messe March 24 to 26, 2016.
