SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which was adopted by United Nations in 2015, are a call for action by all countries to address a range of social needs. The Goal 7 of SDGs is affordable, reliable, sustainable and clean energy. To meet this goal, we need energy storage devices that can supply electricity on demand. Lithium-ion batteries are one of important energy storage devices.
Yamada-Okubo Lab in Department of Chemical System Engineering focuses on research and development of ‘affordable, reliable, and sustainable’ electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices such as sodium-ion batteries consisting of abundant elements or capacitors capable of fast charge. Material design by exploiting the properties of constituting elements enables us to develop advanced EES.

 

We would like to address the energy issue (especially, the Goal 7 of SDGs) by developing advanced EES.
