the 19th APET "on the latest developments in medical and diagnostic technology" Evening Seminar 12/16 (Wed)

The theme of the 19th APET evening seminar is, “The Latest Trends in Medical and Diagnostic Technology”. 
The application of electronics and electrical is essential to medical care. X-ray imaging, Electroencephalography (EEG) and
ultrasonography are a few precedents that are widely adopted in health care facilities. More recently, Magnetic resonance imaging
(*MRI*) which uses magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to construct images of organs and computed tomography (CT) which
combines X-ray images to obtain cross section or 3D view are the foundations of the emergence of new applications in medical diagnosis
and treatment technology.

In this new technology, high voltage plasma is radiated to heal cancerous or injured area. Experiments on cells and animals have been
conducted and the effectiveness of the new method has been proven. In Europe, clinical experiments on human were also performed.
Professor Ono will introduce the latest trends and development in plasma technology in medical field.

On the other hand, stimulating the brain with continuous pulsed magnetic field for improving the symptoms of several neurological
diseases and mental diseases is another potential new application in biological and medical field. Professor Sekino will present the
principle and latest trends of pulsed magnetic field for stimulating the brain emphasizing on the technical aspect.

This seminar is a good opportunity to catch up with the latest trends and development in medical diagnosis and treatment technologies.
