Department of Aeronautics and AstronauticsThe Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics educational purpose is to nurture talented individuals capable of carrying out the three items described below, and of contributing to the development of mankind. In other words, since aerospace is still an immature field in terms of technology and its application, its future development holds great promise. The Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics pursues the discipline’s significance and possibilities that are outward as well as underlying. Conducting research and providing education can be used for the welfare of mankind. Through research and education in the field of aerospace, which requires an extremely high level of performance and leading-edge technology, we nurture talented individuals who can create advanced technology, and promote new developments in engineering that are applicable to many other fields. In the world of aerospace, engineering and science, which relate to many fields, are integrated to achieve one goal. Technology capable of combining ideas is particularly required when constructing a system for achieving a single purpose. System integration and practical research are pursued and education focusing on space missions is provided.
Department of Precision EngineeringWith regard to the field of precise engineering and its connection to “Monozukuri (Manufacturing) and Monozukuri Informatization”, the Department of Precision Engineering cultivates talented individuals capable of using the fundamentals of precision measurement, precision machining, and mechatronics to create advanced hardware, implement value creation throughout the product life cycle, and of contributing to development in their chosen fields.
Department of Information and Communication EngineeringThe Department of Information and Communication Engineering aims to nurture talented individuals capable of creating increasingly sophisticated new technology in the fields of computers/information processing (hardware and software), information networks, communication systems, signal processing, and media technologies.
Department of Electrical and Electronics EngineeringThe Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering nurtures talented individuals using electricity, electronics and a broad exposure to social issues, industrial issues, and value creation to carry out leading academic research and provide solutions to various problems.
Department of Applied PhysicsThe Department of Applied Physics trains talented individuals in the methodological approach of physics to an unknown object, from the fundamentals to the cutting edge. Upon that base, they are able to make new breakthroughs in academic and industrial fields. Physics has had a great impact on society, resulting in inventions such as the semiconductor, transistor, and laser. Such innovation is the product of free thought unbound by preexisting convention and a firm belief in realization. The Department of Applied Physics aims to be a department meeting expectations such as these: “I want to use applied physics to establish a new academic discipline.” “I want to leverage applied physics more extensively in society.” “I want to master applied physics.”
Department of Mathematical Engineering and Information PhysicsThe Department of Mathematical Engineering and Information Physics stands based on a foundation of mathematics, physics, and information, this form of engineering aims to facilitate the well-being of mankind impartial to any given industrial field, hand in hand with the aim of constructing basic ideas, universal principles and systematic methodologies to provide solutions in various fields of engineering, is the aim to train talented individuals to search far and wide for the potential presented by new engineering.
Department of Materials EngineeringThe Department of Materials Science and Engineering aims to train leaders who can contribute to the sustainability and development of society through the acquisition of systematic knowledge rich in culture, internationality, and science and technology, and through engaging in material engineering research, development, design, production, planning, management, and policy proposals.
Department of Applied ChemistryThe Department of Applied Chemistry aims to contribute to the development of mankind and the conservation of the global environment through the creation of substances, materials and devices. That is, all substances including living organisms are composed of atoms, molecules, ions, among others, the microstructure and dynamics which are closely related to the macro spatiotemporal phenomena in which we live and significantly influences a substance's characteristics. The applied chemistry mission is to realize a sustainable society by comprehensively investigating the mechanism from a broad perspective through theory and experiments and creating new technologies. Through systematic study of basic chemistry such as physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and advanced research at the Graduate School which comprehensively fuses these, we train talented individuals to create advanced and useful science and technology.
Department of Chemical System EngineeringThe Department of Chemical System Engineering emphasizes training in the cultivation of engineers and researchers as they learn and internalize chemical system engineering methodology, which is the macro scale constructing and analyzing of the basic units of chemistry in a system at atomic and molecular levels, based on the development and the control of chemical reactions in material. At the same time, this methodology is used to address social issues such as the environment, energy, safety and security, and talented individuals are trained to contribute to the creation of a sustainable environmentally harmonious society. This is the purpose of educational research of this department.
Department of Chemistry and BiotechnologyIn the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, the purpose of education is to train excellent talented individuals who will be responsible for creating the innovative basic science as well as science and technology that contribute to mankind in the integrated area of chemistry and life science. Chemical reactions that advance with high selectivity under mild conditions with life science models will be developed, at the same time work will be conducted on elucidating complex biological phenomena based on chemistry and modifying life systems. In addition, the creation of biofunctional materials making full use of nanotechnology is a major target.
With the chemistry and life science as the two sides, it is the mission of the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology to develop the wisdom of these into science and technology that can make a large contribution to society. The comprehensive fusion of a broad spectrum of academic disciplines in chemistry such as organic chemistry, high polymer chemistry, with bioscience like molecular biology, and through advanced research at the Graduate School, it is fascinating to contribute to the development of next-generation science and technology by training talented individuals.
Systems InnovationTo create a sustainable society in harmony with the global environment, the Department of Systems Innovation integrates and reconstructs science and engineering and social science "knowledge" in response to various problems confronting mankind and creates new "knowledge" with the aim of cultivating talented individuals with the ability to resolve such problems.
