On 10th July 2025, Kai-en YANG (D3), Sakai lab, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, recieved Young Researcher Award at The 8th International Conference on the Characterization and Control of Interfaces for High Quality Advanced Materials (ICCCI2025) .

Young Researcher Award

It was awarded to the outstanding poster presentations in ICCCI2025.

About awarded research

Title: Multi-timescale Reduced-order Model: A Data-driven Approach for Fast DEM-CFD Simulations

In this study, a multi-timescale reduced order model (MT-ROM) is developed for the large-scale solid-fluid flows to achieve high-speed simulations. This model uses a posteriori error estimate to avail the advantages of the data-driven and can decide the optimal training data for data-driven ROM without the physical and temporal constraints.

Your impression & future plan

It is truly my honor to be awarded the Young Researcher Award in ICCCI2025, where the most outstanding researchers on powder processes and ceramics were gathered. I’d like to express my highest gratitude to all the Sakai Lab members, especially Prof. Sakai and Asst Prof. Shuo Li. Their continued support and advice were indispensable for me to achieve this outstanding outcome.
