On 2 December 2024, for the second consecutive year, a lecture was held by Dean Kato, and students from the first year of junior high school to the third year of high school gathered at the venue.
During this lecture, Dean Kato expounded in detail on his involvement in geological surveys abroad and how research activities at the Faculty of Engineering will contribute to future development. After the lecture, we received comments such as: "I had initially aimed to study at medical school, but I have now become interested in the field of medical engineering at the Faculty of Engineering. I am keen on conducting research in e-skin and gels, and to become someone who could be of use to society". Another comment was: "It was surprising to learn that another new, innovative resource had been discovered a year after the previous lecture". There were many comments about the research, and it seemed that interest in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo had increased. During the Q&A session, several questions were raised by junior high school students, and all the students nodded and listened attentively to Dean Kato's thoughtful answers.
Teachers expressed gratitude, saying that individual students were able to go one step further in their growth through direct dialogue with Dean Kato.
