On 2 September 2024, around 290 third-year junior high school students attended the lecture, who were keen to listen to Dean Kato who was explaining his research contents, and to watch videos of female students at UTokyo, with a twinkle in their eyes.
After the lecture, there were some comments received including "When I run into a barrier, I easily give up, but after listening to his lecture, I felt like not giving up, but trying to reach even bigger goals", "I got to know what the Department of Engineering does and how useful it is to society, and moreover, I was impressed to realise that women with engineering degrees are widely sought after and able to play an active role in society". Many students who were there were moved by his lecture.
This lecture was very stimulating for the students and provided them with a good opportunity to think about what they can do for the future. Teachers who participated expressed their appreciation, as they expect the number of students who will be actively involved in their studies and activities in the future to increase.
