title: Yohei Tajima (D2), Department of Applied Physics, received Student Presentation Award of the Physical Society of Japan
description: "About awarded research
Yoshioka group is working on the realization of laser cooling of positronium (Ps), which is a bound state of an electron and a positron. In this study, we have developed a unique laser that has all requirements for efficient cooling of Ps. This would be a major step forward for not only the realization of laser cooling of Ps but the precise spectroscopy in Ps and the first Bose-Einstein condensation in an antimatter system."

On 9th April 2022, Yohei Tajima (D2), Department of Applied Physics, received The 77th Annual Meeting (2022) Student Presentation Award of the Physical Society of Japan.

The 77th Annual Meeting (2022) Student Presentation Award of the Physical Society of Japan
Recognize graduate and undergraduate students who have delivered outstanding presentations at a JPS meeting.
**
About awarded research**
Yoshioka group is working on the realization of laser cooling of positronium (Ps), which is a bound state of an electron and a positron. In this study, we have developed a unique laser that has all requirements for efficient cooling of Ps. This would be a major step forward for not only the realization of laser cooling of Ps but the precise spectroscopy in Ps and the first Bose-Einstein condensation in an antimatter system.
**
Your impression & future plan**
I am honored to receive this award. I will be diligent in my research for the realization of laser cooling of Ps in the near future.
