On 19th September 2019, Anna Yui (D2), Departments of Bioengineering, received Young Scientist Award at the 92nd annual meeting of the Japanese Biochemical Society.

<About awarded research>

Liver Intestine-cadherin (LI-cad) is a membrane protein expressed on colorectal carcinoma. Molecular mechanism of how a single amino acid mutation on LI-cad caused by a single nucleotide polymorphism on a gene coding LI-cad increases the risk of metastasis of colorectal carcinoma has been investigated using biochemical methods and molecular dynamics simulation.

<Your impression & future plan>

It is a great honor to receive such a wonderful award. I am grateful for kind guidance given by Prof. Kouhei Tsumoto, lab members and collaborators. I will continue to put effort into my research.
