<About awarded research>
Protein-protein interaction (PPI) makes up a huge network responsible for lots of cellular events. A small molecule compound that regulates the PPI has a potential as a novel molecular-targeting drug. However, it is thought to be quite difficult to regulate the proteins with small molecules because of a gap in the molecular weight between them. In this study, we identified a small molecule inhibitor and elucidated its function targeting the cell adhesive protein P-cadherin. This study could promote the drug development for the disease-related PPIs.
