On 7th March 2019, the School of Engineering held a farewell party for retiring professors in the exhibition room of engineering building #2. Seventeen Professors are retiring at the end of fiscal year of 2018: Among them, Prof. Shinji Sato (Dept. of Civil Eng.), Prof. Kazuhiko Nishide (Dept. of Architecture), Prof. Shigehiko Kaneko (Dept. of Mechanical Eng.), Prof. Tadatomo Suga (Dept. of Precision Eng.), Prof. Shuji Aihara (Dept. of Systems Innovation), Prof. Shinji Suzuki (Dept. of Aeronautics & Astronautics), Prof. Kunihiko Hidaka (Dept. of Electrical Eng. and Information Systems), Prof. Yoshinori Tokura (Dept. of Applied Physics). Prof. Masatoshi Imada (Dept. of Applied Physics), Prof. Akira Toriumi (Dept. of Materials Eng.), Prof. Kazunari Domen (Dept. of Chemical System Eng.) and Prof. Koji Ikuta (Dept. of Mathematical Eng. & Information Physics). Other than the retiring professors, forty professors of the School of Engineering participated in the party.
Moderated by Prof. Yukitoshi Motome, Chair of Dept. of Applied Physics., the party was opened with remarks by Prof. Masanori Kunieda, Chair of Dept. of Precision Eng., and followed with addresses from Prof. Tatsuya Okubo, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Prof. Masatoshi Ishikawa, Dean of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. After a toast by Prof. Takayuki Terai (Institute of Engineering Innovation), conversation started.
Prof. Tatsuya Okubo, Dean of the School of Engineering, presented a medal to the retiring professors. Each of the retiring Professors made a speech. Prof. Yasushi Asami, Vice-dean of the School of Engineering conveyed the sincere thanks to the retiring professors, followed by ending remark by Prof. Takafumi Noguchi, Chair of Dept. of Architecture. Then, the party ended with a warm atmosphere.
