Professor Shinji Suzuki at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics was elected as ICAS (International Council of Aeronautical Sciences) President from 2019 to 2020 at the Council of ICAS 2018 Congress in Brazil. ICAS is an international aeronautical scholarly organization composed of aeronautical member societies in 28 countries and 36 organizations as an associate member. ICAS was established in 1957 by Dr. von Karman’s proposal to promote academic development and international collaboration in aeronautics. ICAS hold Congress every other year from the Madrid Congress held in 1958. Professor Suzuki will be the first president elected from Asia.
