Presentation Ceremony for the University of Tokyo President's Award was held at Koshiba Hall on Thursday, March 22nd, 2017. Rui Fukumoto, Department of Urban Engineering, D3, received President's Grand Prize (Category: Extracurricular and Social Activities).

Disaster prevention workshops with fun activity help to increase awareness and strengthen the local bond beyond generations.
Rui Fukumoto has started a new workshop with a card game to provide opportunities to talk about disaster prevention experiences and ideas beyond generations. He has created "Bousai Trump®" (Disaster Prevention Cards) as a communication tool to increase awareness of reducing damages from disasters. The participants have enjoyed sharing their experiences and ideas with disaster prevention in local region through playing cards. He has held the workshops over 200 times in different regions. Cumulatively, over 12,000 people have participated in these workshops. He has received awards from several ministries and agencies in Japan through these activities. The University of Tokyo also recognized and honored his achievement as the most valued social activity.
