Yu Yanagisawa, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, wins a CSJ Student Presentation Award 2016. An award presented to students who had a distinguished oral presentation in the 96th CSJ Annual Meeting.
<About awarded research>
Self-healable materials have attracted much attention due to their ability to provide extended lifetimes.Although a variety of self-healable materials have been reported so far, their poor mechanical properties has limited their potential applications. Here, we report the first polymer glass that can self-heal by simply compressing cut surfaces together.
