□ Monthly Message
As we begin the new academic year, fresh initiatives are underway across research, education, and social cooperation. While we all balance various roles in our daily work, I feel there are still limited opportunities for us to step back and share the overall direction and challenges of our school. Therefore, starting this year, I have decided to share regular updates through this "Dean’s Message."
The purpose of this message is not merely to provide information, but to spark dialogue and collaboration. Engineering research and education are built upon a vast array of specialized fields; however, this structure can often lead to fragmented activities. Now more than ever, it is vital that we share our challenges across disciplines and positions to forge new connections.
In recent years, the environment surrounding research has shifted dramatically. With intensifying global competition, rising societal expectations, and the shrinking gap between research and real-world implementation, we increasingly face situations that cannot be addressed by simply following traditional paths. In this context, we are called upon not only to enhance our individual efforts, but also to align our organizational direction and actively foster collaboration.
The starting point for this is to learn about one another’s work and share the challenges and possibilities we encounter on the ground. I hope this message serves as a catalyst for that process. I intend to continue sharing updates that cover a wide range of perspectives.

Our school is currently advancing research that bridges different perspectives—such as information, materials, and systems. New values are being created through the fusion of diverse approaches, including data-driven design, precision measurement technologies, and system development geared toward social implementation. I believe these cross-disciplinary initiatives will form the essential foundation of engineering research in the years to come.
