About awarded research
Paper Title: Risk map generation system for intelligent vehicles on community roads via data-driven approach
https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/mej/7/1/7_19-00119/_article/-char/ja

In this study, a new data-driven method for constructing a risk map for intelligent vehicles was developed to realize an adaptive proactive braking intervention system based on the risk levels of the driving environment, aiming at preventing traffic accidents on non-signalized crossroads with poor visibility on community roads. We then confirmed the usefulness of the proposed method by confirming that it could estimate risk levels consistent with driving instructors at driving schools using general driver driving data obtained in public road driving experiments.

Your impression & future plan
I am honored to receive this very prestigious award. In recent years, various advanced driver-assistance systems and automated driving technologies for highways have been put into practical use, but researches and technological developments for community roads are still insufficient. We would like to continue our research to achieve a future without traffic accidents.
