Lecturer Tsuyoshi Minami, Institute of Industrial Science, Graduate School of Chemistry and Biotechnology, wins a Ando Incentive Prize for the Study of Electronics.

Tsuyoshi Minami has developed chemical sensors based on extended-gate type organic thin-film transistors functionalized with self-assembled monolayers , which are able to detect biologically and/or environmentally important analytes, including proteins as well as small species such as cations, anions and neutral molecules in aqueous media. It believes that his sensing system, based on the organic transistors, will open up avenues for new applications of organic electronic devices and molecular recognition materials.
