【Awards and Commendations】 Noriyuki Uchida in the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, won the CSJ Student Presentation Award 2015.

This award was sent to presenters who gave good oral presentations in the annual conference of Chemical Society Japan (CSJ) in 2015.

We here serendipitously found that tubulin proteins, which form tubular assembly in physiological conditions, fold into a hollow sphere via sheet assembly by the action of specially designed "molecular glue".  Interestingly, the tubulin hollow sphere collapses in response to guanosine triphosphate (GTP) being the fuel to drive cell devision process.

Moreover, we successfully demonstrated the tubulin hollow sphere by applying to an intracellular delivery of the anticancer drug to induce the death of cancer cells.

I'm very happy to receive this award. I would like to thank my supervisors, Prof. Dr. Takuzo Aida and Dr. Kou Okuro, and also lab members.  I will continue to do my best in my research.
