“Mine-related Scroll Painting (Emaki) – Drawing (Ezu) Collection”

 Drawn with practical purposes, there are various kind of mine pictorial. Of these, “Shikioka picture" showing the outline and placement of mine, "Furikane picture” drawing the wastewater of mines, and "Mine Scroll Painting" illustrating the working process and the jobsite are representative.
 In this database, you can see “Shikioka pictures”, “Furikane pictures” and “Mine Scrolls Painting” in Sado Aikawa Gold Silver Mine (Niigata, Sado), Hei-gun Kanazawa Village Gold Mine (Iwate, Ohzuchi), or Otsu Agawa (Yamaguchi, Shimonoseki ).  

In particular, "Saki no Ohtsu Agawa-mura yama-satetsu arai-tori no zu" (先大津阿川村山砂鉄洗取之図)obtain a high reputation which is introduced the steel industry state-of-the-art at the time and also has been published on school textbooks.
