Summary: Designing pharmaceutical manufacturing processes is extremely difficult because it is done during clinical development when there is high uncertainty and appropriate process depends on products. In addition, the fact that continuous manufacturing is now becoming a new alternative makes design problems even more complicated. We presented an economic evaluation of manufacturing processes considering continuous manufacturing for solid drug products such as tablets and capsules. Also, we demonstrated a software tool which we developed for supporting decision making in the real process design. This work enabled comprehensive alternative generation and economic evaluation considering uncertainty, furthermore, can contribute to smooth development and launch of new drugs.
