Research:
Generation mechanisms of phase singular points in interferometric synthetic aperture radar

In coherent imaging such as interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), observation data often suffer from extreme amplitude reduction and large phase distortion. These effects are very harmful in particular in precise digital elevation model (DEM) generation. However, the generation mechanisms were unclear. In this research, the awardees succeeded in specifying the origins and distinguishing them from one another. The above adverse effects are identical with the fading and phase distortion in mobile communications. The awardees have elucidated the mechanisms through their high-dimensional information space analyses.

I feel highly honored to receive KDDI Foundation Award, which encourages me to go further beyond conventional electronics, information and communication engineering.
