International Applicants

Application through the University of Tokyo

For overseas applicants, to enter a graduate school under Japanese government scholarship: MEXT (Japanese Ministry of Education Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship, students generally enroll as an international research student.

Particularly, the Graduate School of Engineering has ‘special graduate programs in English’, aided by the MEXT Scholarship to enter the Master's or Doctoral program.
The application is carried out through the University of Tokyo. Students should submit the application to each course, and receive the primaly evaluation based on academic qualification. Several top ranked students in each course will be supported by the MEXT Scholarship.
Applicants who pass the primaly selection but are not in ranked high enough to receive the MEXT Scholarship can be accepted as self-supporting students or supported by the Graduate School of Engineering.

Application through Japanese Embassy

This is a graduate program fully conducted in English, aided by Japanese government scholarship: MEXT (Japanese Ministry of Education Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship
Application is in 2 steps

1. 1. Applicants will take the preliminary selection in the Japanese Embassy in their country.
2. 2. After passing the preliminary selection, they will be further evaluated by School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo for acceptance.

2. How to apply:
   To apply online, please follow the steps below.
   
   1. Click T-cens icon on the bottom of this page and follow the instruction.
      
   2. You will then receive email from us for accessing T-cens online application page.
      
   3. Once you logon to T-cens, please read the instruction carefully and fill out all required fields. You will be given your application　number which will be used for the rest of your application process. Your application will not be processed until you submit all required informations on T-cens. The deadline for the online application varies from each program. For details on application deadlines, please visit the website of programs selected.
      
   4. In addition to completing T-cens, all supporting documents must be submitted via registered express mail by the application deadline specified by the programs selected. Please make sure to add your application ID number on all application forms which can be downloaded from T-cens.
   Note: If you do not have a sufficient Internet access to complete this online application, you can send us the paper-based application forms. Please contact the administration office of the programs selcted for further information.
