Education

Overview

The School of Engineering offers master's level and doctoral courses and degrees in each department (see chart below). In addition to faculty members of the School of Engineering, those from adjunct research units, such as the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo, participate in graduate level education. The purpose of graduate school education is to enable students to acquire more advanced knowledge of engineering and more refined research capabilities. The doctoral program is designed with the particular objective of fostering students' abilities so that they can take the lead in future research efforts. Because of the growing complexity of engineering, lectures in master's programs are becoming increasingly important.
