Koji Mitshashi(B4), Department of Applied Chemistry, received the Mimuro award of the Photosynthesis seminar 2019.
This award is given to the young researchers who gave a good presentation in the seminar.

<About awarded research>
 In photosynthetic protein photosystem I (PSI), light energy is absorbed by ~90 chlorophylls in the antenna system and then transferred to the reaction core chlorophylls (P700). Spectroscopic experiments suggested the presence of chlorophylls further to red than P700, but the chlorophylls have not been assigned to specific molecules.
 In this study, I calculated of absorption-energy of each chlorophylls in PSI by using quantum chemical approach and found a chlorophyll oligomer which absorbs low energy light.

<Your impression & future plan>
I am very happy to get this award. I am really grateful to associate professor Saito and members of Ishikita Laboratory for their contribution. This award motivates me for further research on photosystem.
